The Secretary of State for International Trade visits Telelingua and discovers how to break down language barriers
Brussels, Belgium (September 16, 2016) – On September 13, the Brussels office of Telelingua International was pleased to host Mrs. Cécile Jodogne, the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade for the Brussels-Capital Region and Minister of the French Community Commission. Joining the Minister was Gauthier Lejeune, Foreign Trade Advisor for her Cabinet.
The Minister said that she was “impressed” by the dynamism of this 100% Belgian company, which exports its services throughout the world and which was awarded the Best Exporter Company prize in 2011 and the Brussels Best Exporter Award in the “services” category in 2013.
“It’s really fascinating to see how, for over 30 years, this SME that started in Brussels has successfully navigated a field that is constantly evolving and where there is competition on a worldwide scale. This shows that where there is know-how and, more important, sheer force of will, not only by management but by team members as well, progress can be achieved”, she said.
The Minister was able to visit the entire service line at Telelingua, from the time a document is received up to the finished translation, through the quality control department, translator selection and software development, as well as departments specializing in medical, pharmaceutical and technical translation. During the visit, the Minister also had the opportunity to discover the use of computer translation tools (CAT), a technology which Telelingua uses to enhance human skills to reduce lead times and constantly improve quality.
“In this age of globalization, we expect to be able to help our clients increase their export bottom line, by adapting all their documents and communication into the languages of the market they are targeting. The whole world is within their reach thanks to translation”, pointed out Jean-Didier Boucau, CEO of Telelingua.
Telelingua was founded in 1985 in Brussels and today numbers eight branch offices worldwide, in the USA, Europe and China. The company employs around 220 people, with about fifty of them in Brussels. The company has hired 70 people in the past five years. The Telelingua brand currently enjoys a position in the top 25 on the worldwide translation market, with more than 150 million words translated per year, with a range of more than 100 language combinations and in a wide range of fields.

European quality standard for translation services ISO 17100:2015 now replaces EN 15038
A surveillance audit in real time conducted on 15 September 2015 confirmed the conformity of Telelingua International with new ISO 17100 and extends our certification until 2017.
Since 1 May 2015, the European quality standard for translation services DIN EN 15038 has been replaced by the new international standard DIN EN ISO 17100 "Translation Services - Requirements for translation services" (“Services de traduction — Exigences relatives aux services de traduction”).
ISO 17100 specifies the requirements for all aspects of the translation process directly affecting the quality and delivery of translation services. It includes provisions concerning the management of core processes, minimum competence requirements, the availability and management of resources, and other actions necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service.
The ISO 17100 standard makes translation service providers comparable worldwide since it clearly describes the translation process in terms of its content (pre-production processes, production processes and post-production processes). It also involves the translation provider submitting a personal declaration of conformity with the requirements of the European standard.
